Homelessness is a growing issue in the Granite State. Between 2016-2017, families experiencing homelessness jumped by 22%, and there are over 200 homeless families in Hillsborough and Rockingham Counties alone. To combat homelessness and support families who are trying to regain stability, VeraniCARES, the social development arm of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Verani Realty, recently made a $2,000 donation to Family Promise of Greater Nashua.

Verani Realty agents Steve White and Lisa Brochu, who are both active with VeraniCARES and are based in the Londonderry office, suggested VeraniCARES support Family Promise after finding out about their extensive service offerings and hard work in the community.

Family Promise offers housing, classes on financial management and parenting, and career searching support to homeless families so they can work toward stable independence. Their goal is to keep families together and provide them with the skills they need to achieve security, including housing, employment and reliable transportation. Last year 83% of the people served achieved independence, and the average stay is a little less than a year. The organization is staffed by volunteers 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“One of the great things about VeraniCARES is that the causes we support are chosen by our agents,” said Giovanni Verani, President of Verani Realty. “When Steve and Lisa met with Family Promise and learned about the work they’re doing, we knew we had to partner with them. They go beyond providing just services – they’re giving families a second chance, and tools to build a better life. After learning about their and their high success rate, we knew our dollars would make an important impact and go far.”

VeraniCARES engages Verani Realty agents and employees in ways to give back to the communities they serve and live in. To learn more about VeraniCARES, visit their website.
