With the Covid-19 epidemic, you may have seen that many cherished New England festivals and events, such as The BIG E for example, have been cancelled and postponed until next year. As New Englanders with claim to the running joke that our four seasons are known as: Almost winter, winter, still winter. Road Construction., we are already well aware of the challenges our short-lived summers pose. The cancellation of many of our traditional and beloved New England summer festivals and events has left many disappointed and disheartened about the hope of enjoying summer this year. 

However, even with the cancellations, we want to inform you that there are still plenty of socially distant events and activities to attend throughout New England. 

For this article, we have compiled a list of our favorite events you can still attend this summer. With socially distant events ranging from park concerts in New Hampshire to boat tours in Boston, there is sure to be something fun for you and your family and friends to enjoy.  

Prescott Park Arts Festival --Portsmouth, NH 

Monday July, 13 @ 8:30 PM - Saturday, Sept 5 @ 8:30 PM

Grab your popcorn and snacks to enjoy your favorite movies at Prescott Park Art Festival’s “Lost Summer” Drive-In Movie Series, sponsored by Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. They will be playing movies all summer long- what a perfect way to enjoy the summer nights with family and friends with social distancing! 

 

Music At Sunset Concerts at Blithewold -- Bristol, RI

Bring your picnic dinners, chairs and blankets to enjoy music and gorgeous views over the bay. With 33 acres of gardens and grounds, including a 10-acre lawn, to spread out upon, this fun outdoor concert is perfect for social distancing! Masks are required. Comedy Night Outdoors with Shawn Jackson -- Exeter NH

Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy a night of comedy in The Word Barn Meadow. The open-air events will give you all of the summer vibes while you laugh with Shawn Jackson (Finalist 2019 Boston Comedy Festival), Emily Ruskowski (Wilbur Theater Boston), Matt Barry (Foxwoods), Dan Gilbert (Don't Tell Comedy), and hosts Josh & Sara Day (Vermont Comedy Club, ImprovBoston).

 

Food Trucks, Music and Arts at Rocky Point -- Warwick RI

If our last blog has given you the need to get your food truck fix,, head to the former Rocky Point Park, now an open public park overlooking Narragansett Bay, for food trucks. Additionally there will be more than 50 artisan vendors with Field of Artisans, and live music. The lineup of food truck and artisans will be different on each date. Revels Harbor Cruise in Boston -- Boston, MA

Another way to get outside after months of quarantine is this two-hour sunset cruise around Boston Harbor with Revels Artist-in-Residence David Coffin and guests from Save the Harbor/Save the Bay.  With narration, you will learn about the harbor’s marine life and ecosystem from experts from Save the Harbor/Save the Bay. Guests must wear masks onboard and exercise social distancing

 

The Hills Are Alive with Rodgers & Hammerstein --Pittsfield, MA

If you want a fun show to go to listen to singers from the Barrington Stage Co. perform some of the greatest musical theater songs ever written—from "South Pacific," "Carousel," "The King and I," "Oklahoma!" and more. The show is presented in a tent outdoors to practice social distance. 

 

Tractor Days at Billings Farm -- Woodstock, VT

If your family loves the farm, take them to visit Billings Farm to take a tractor-pulled wagon ride and watch antique tractors on the move. Tractors will star in a parade and compete in a Slow Race.
